The UV lamp is still doing it after 9000 hours. Should I change it?
Yes, the lamp will still emit blue light, but its frequency will become too low for proper disinfection. Until the indicated lifetime the correct frequency will be achieved, after that there is no guarantee.
Do I need to clean the quartz tube?
The quartz tube is the barrier between the water and the UV lamp. The cleaner it is, the better the UV light passes through it.
We recommend cleaning this quartz tube when changing lamps. You can do this by soaking it in citric acid and then rubbing it with medicated alcohol.
Also inspect the condition of the O-ring and replace it if necessary.
