Especially during dry and long periods, rainwater storage can start to smell and cause odor nuisance. This is very annoying, but fortunately there is a biologically sustainable solution for this.
This maintenance product consists of various bacteria that are formulated to accelerate the breakdown of organic impurities in the rainwater tank, preventing sludge, algae formation and foul odors.
How does Bio-Recup LQD work?
Bio-Recup LQD maintenance works because bacteria break down organic waste in the tank aerobically. No odor is released in the process. The bad bacteria are competed away in this way. By breaking down the nutrients present, Bio-Recup LQD works very well in many cases against algae and sludge formation and thus prevents and reduces odors that can occur, for example, during long and dry periods.
This product is 100% organic, safe for the environment and your rainwater tank. Therefore, it is not a biocide. This makes Bio-Recup LQD suitable for all types of rainwater storage tanks, including mandatory rainwater recovery tanks.
Does Bio-Recup LQD also work for the pipes?
If the odor is coming from the pipes then Bio-Recup LQD needs more time to work properly. This is because in the piping the oxygen is used up very quickly which reduces the effect.

On average, how long does it take before I notice an effect from using Bio Recup LQD?
Our products contain bacteria that require time to reach their maximum effectiveness. On average, it will take 2-3 weeks to reach maximum strength. Generally, most of our customers notice some effect in terms of odor reduction within the first week.
Does Bio Recup LQD also tackle discoloration in rainwater?
Most discoloration in rainwater will come from humic acids from leaf litter and other organic debris. Our bacteria can break that down, but there will be a minimal color difference. For decolorization, you may want to consider a carbon filter after the tank.
Can I use Bio-Recup LQD the whole season?
Yes, Bio-Recup LQD can be used throughout the season. However, we recommend using this product in the spring and/or summer because it works best thanks to the outside temperature. During this time, most problems will also be noticeable.
My rainwater storage does not smell, but the water in the cistern does. Is Bio-Recup LQD usable then?
In this case, the problem is probably in the piping from the rainwater recup into the house. The product does work for this, but because it is not a biocide, it can take at least a few weeks to resolve in that case. This is because the oxygen in the piping is quickly used up, which will reduce the effectiveness of Bio-Recup.
Can Bio-Recup LQD dissolve the thick sludge layer in my tank?
Yes, Bio-Recup LQD can dissolve the thick layer of dirt in your tank if it consists of organic material. Sand is not degradable.
Can I use the water from my tank for gardening if I have used Bio-Recup LQD?
Yes, Bio-Recup LQD is an environmentally friendly organic product that is not harmful to your plants or garden. So you can safely use this product.
Can I continue to use the rainwater as household water for my washing machine?
This product is not harmful or toxic, nor does it contain any bleaching agents, so this product is excellent to use when using the collected rainwater for your washing machine.
Can I use the water from my tank as drinking water for myself or my animals?
Our product is not harmful or toxic, but use as drinking water, including for animals, is not recommended.
What can affect the performance of Bio-Recup LQD?
Beware of products containing chlorine! They can seriously disturb the biology in the tank and the operation of this product.
Is the packaging of Bio-Recup LQD recyclable?
Yes, the packaging is recyclable. We have chosen to provide more and more products with new environmentally sustainable packaging. Because of this, the bottle may differ from the original image above. Our new bottles are made of 100% recycled plastic. Of course, the content and function of the product is the same as original packaging.
To protect the products from damage, we use packing paper as padding in our packages -if necessary. The packing paper is made of 100% recycled paper.
Will you help recycle? You can recycle the packaging with the old paper and plastic waste so that it can be reused.
How do I use the Bio-Recup LQD?
Using Bio-Recup LQD is simple. Check the chart below for the correct dosage. Keep in mind that you dose Bio-Recup LQD in the spring or summer. This is also often the period when odor is most prevalent.
For rainwater tanks & cisterns:

Remark:
If you already have severe odor problems, 1 bottle may not be enough and you may need to repeat the treatment after a few weeks, depending on the situation.
If the tank is closed for a long time, it is possible that gases are present in the tank. Do you want to add Bio-Recup LQD? Leave the well open at least a day in advance to allow the gases to escape. Always make sure there are two of you and that you are wearing protective equipment, such as a mouth mask.
